Our client, a supermarket chain in KSA, started out on a large IT transformation programme to replace their legacy systems and give them a basis for expansion.
We first partnered in as a contingency recruitment partner. Through this we helped to find them architects, programme managers, integration experts and many other roles were filled.
However, this company were limited due to Saudisation and the slow speed and complexity of onboarding in KSA, from India, where the majority of the skills they required could be found.
This led to needing a different solution to the problem. This is when we started to provide a mixture of onsite and offsite contractors to resource their transformation programme. The contractors mainly came from the UK, South Africa, India and UAE. The programme road map was mainly oracle retail and oracle ebusiness suite. However, they also went for “best of breed” software in key areas like Relex and Toshiba POS.
At our peak we had roughly 40 contractors working across roles such as:
Programme Manager
Project Manager
Data/BI Specialist
Integration Specialist
Solution Architect
Business Analyst
Head of PMO and PMO
Change Management
The consultants were spread across multiple domain areas such as merchandising, supply chain, demand forecasting, reporting, infrastructure, data, stores and finance.
This programme was then scaled back when end of year trading numbers were not to the satisfaction of the C-Level as part of overall company cost cutting.
